My name is Erik Sternberger and I'm currently in Columbus, OH. I've been performing improv and acting for over 5 years now and have trained at Second City Chicago and I also write, direct, and edit short filmed comedy sketches that I sometimes act in. I've had a couple short stories published and a few short plays produced along the way. I've recently been making a push to create my own works rather than wait for others to be ready and have learned a lot as I make new mistakes each time!

Nice, what have you done in Columbus, John?
I recently shot a rap video in Columbus. There seems to be quite a few people attempting to break into that arena in Columbus. Nothing like driving to a location where someone was shot the night before to shoot some video. But it turned out well for a regional rap video that fell into the budget we had. I have also done some event documentation for art show openings. That is a bit tedious to shoot, but I do like the art and enjoy the artists and those that support them. That is the work that is paying for the gear to shoot some short films. Starting a shoot this weekend that should be interesting, but that is down in Hillsboro, OH. We are shooting a scene for a short film. Then building our sound library by doing some foley work during some target shooting with various guns. Recording a drum track for use in a short. Then having a cook out and watching fireworks.....ahhhh the glamour of the film industry!
Very nice. I've mostly been working on writing and filming sketch comedy and live improv and plays.. Columbus has set up a Film Commission that has been nicely active and trying to bring together a community, which has been great.
Erik, Is that the City of Columbus setting up a Film Commission? Because a government entity has the ability to get a few more things done with locations than a private one.
