I've been writing fiction and film on the side for over 20 years on nights, weekends, and coffee breaks (which my friends say amounts to about 6 years in reality). But I'm just starting to hit my stride and finding my voice. Even getting some award recognition. So I was wondering who you are, how long you've been writing, and where you are in the process.
Basically, I'm looking for a theatre to produce my musical play with either a full production or a staged reading. It would also make an entertaining film or television show. I'm working on other scripts, too, & have some old screenplays I want to rewrite. But my focus is trying to get a production going for my play. "Doctor George's Magnificent Zeppelin" is a two act musical comedy I wrote many years ago, first back in 1988, then as a screenplay in 1989 once requested by Amblin Entertainment, then in 2011 when I rewrote the stage version. Would anyone be interested in my sending them a copy of my play, either by email attachment, or a hard copy? My film version needs a rewrite, so it is not finished; it needs reformatting also before I attempt to post it on Stage 32. I realize how scripts for films are rejected right & left if not formatted correctly, so I want to get it right first. DGMZ is a musical comedy satire of children's entertainment & theme park megalomania featuring Dr. George & his young two man zeppelin crew, an attractive female reporter & love interest, pirates, mermaids, a dragon, fairies, an imprisoned but kind fairy king, & an evil fairy queen bent on turning their fantasy island paradise into an obnoxious theme park. The characters celebrate diversity & Dr. George sets out on an adventure to rid the world of evil doers & tyrants by exposing them to his latest invention, the vanity ego reflector. Spirited musical accompaniment & hysterical encounters make this musical an attractive family entertainment. Thanks, again, everyone, for allowing me to reintroduce myself on Stage 32. --Sincerely, Grant Sutor Vuille DGMZ is also available from publisher Lulu.com & online bookstores such as StagePlays.com & Amazon.com - (Sales are donated to animal rights charities as all the characters are named after family pets.)

Great post, my friend! I've been writing in one way or another all my life. And I just now feel like I'm starting to find my voice.

I began writing movie scripts as a teenager in the 1960's which I turned into 8mm films & later in the 1970's in several short 16mm films I made with friends. I acted in plays & musicals beginning in 1966 until I moved away from my home in FL in 1986. After settling in VA in 1990 I acted in a couple plays & a few musicals until around 2006. Working full time as a hair stylist & later an administrative assistant I continued to write short plays, screenplays, & my current musical play DGMZ I've been promoting. All throughout this time I've entered my plays in drama festivals without success. I did attempt to enter my films in movie festivals, but none selected. Writing is my passion. I love it when my imagination takes flight. It's a very healing & cathartic activity that brings me tremendous personal satisfaction. Thanks, Shawn, for your kind post & for encouraging me to share.
I think if I had the cast & the means to bring it all together into a completed film there'd be no need to pitch the story. However, once the film's in the can, you can enter it in festivals & save the pitch sessions for distributors.
