Introduce Yourself : Jennifer W. -- Aspiring Screenwriter by Jennifer S. Wooleyhand

Jennifer W. -- Aspiring Screenwriter

Hi, everyone. I want to address all the posts I'm seeing here on the "Introduce Yourself" site with a heartfelt Good Luck! and Good For You! Following your dreams is incredibly brave, and admirable. I'm answering that call myself! It is true that age brings wisdom, and courage. My story? I'm a gifted writer, with a versatility that enabled me to support all the aspects of a communications and PR office for many years--but who shelved personal aspirations in the process. It was easy, perhaps because I was writing, creating, to think I was fulfilled. And then one day, I hastily wrote a short screenplay in response to a contest that was nearing deadline. In the process of writing this screenplay, I felt an overwhelming sense of recognition, a complete realization that I'd found my calling. My odd love for movies, my constant need to tweak them within my imagination, or cast them with "better" actors and actresses, was no longer a mystery. When the experts reviewing the contest entries provided the feedback, I was validated. I did not win, having possibly gone over their anticipated budget, but that mattered very little next to the praise (and no edits!) I received. My life, as I knew it, had forever changed. I had no doubts, no fears, only surety. I took my early retirement option, and set a course for my new future! I'm now writing a feature-length comedy, and am thrilled with its promise. From the concept to the writing, it is undeniably good. Two other conedic screenplay visions await the trip from my imagination to paper, as well. This is it! The MEANING. :) Its so wonderful to chase it, our real purpose, isn't it? And I wish us all the success we respectively hope for. The world needs movies, great movies, in a constant, revolving flow--and we better get busy. :)

Hey Jennifer, this is Beth from the Stage 32 team. I just wanted to let you know I moved your post from Screenwriting to Introduce Yourself, as it fits much better there. Let me know if you have any questions, and all the best to you!

Phillip E. Hardy, "The Real Deal"

Jennifer: First and damn foremost, welcome to Stage 32. There are some tremendous like minded creatives here that are happy to share their thoughts about writing scripts. Thanks for sharing your story with us. It sounds to me like you really love the writing process. I think that's the best reason to pursue taking the movies in your head and creating a finished script of your own. Congrats on your first foray into script contests.

Howdy! This is an active community. I probably don't spend as much time here as I should.

Hi, Chester! It's been encouraging! :)
