Cinematography : Drones by Mallory Johnston

Drones

I'm interested in using a drone for a project (and for experimentation). Note, this is a student project, so I'm working with limited funds. I want to know about a really good quality quadcopter that provides good video for a max $150. I know, I don't ask for much, but I know there's got to be one good for the money somewhere. Thanks!

If you mean to buy one, about the only thing I see in that price range is something like this: http://www.wowhobbies.com/fpvhubsanx4miniquadcopterrtfh107d.aspx It's limited to 640x480 and I can't imagine the lens is great. I'd ask around at local hobby shops for drone enthusiasts in your area who already have a nice drone, experience flying it and are eager to show off their skills. They might do it for free for the fun of it or the chance to build their reel.

You may find a local filmmaker that already owns one and knows how to use it, and is willing to help you out on a student project

Tony Glaser

I recommend what Joe said. After working on a project or two with it you may feel like you wasted the 150 dollars because of the quality of the camera.

The rate at which this technology is changing is amazing! Definitely recommend renting rather than buying at this point!
