Working on something right now that parallels (in a very, very loose sense) that classic horror, The Descent. Does anyone know where to find examples of studio log lines? I took a log line class last month with the unimpeachable Danny Manus and he said there were established log lines that went around between production companies and studios. I'd like to find the one for The Descent to see how they breached some of that film's classic nuances. All the best. Write on.

Btw, Erick, since The Descent is a European production (France and UK I believe), most of us in "Hollywood" weren't exposed to it until it screened at Sundance. The script logline wasn't really floating around the mainstream of Hollywood. I saw the movie at the Egyptian during the Midnight Madness screening, and I was blown away. US Acquisitions execs were familiar with Neil from Dog Soldiers, but until Sundance, he was still largely still unknown to the majority of Hollywood.
TV guide. They know how to hook you... don't confuse a Logline with a Tag Line though.

If I remember correctly.. the Logline for Aliens was very simple. JAWS in SPACE... something like that... the Execs got it immediately. xo
A year after the tragic car wreck of her husband and daughter, a young woman is taken away by old friends on an underground climbing adventure that turns into a horrible nightmare. (This is a rough example)
Or a run-in with flesh eating monsters... (More specific)

No need to be more specific. The log line for alien: Jaws in space.
Jaws in Space is great if you have an inside connection. If you're pitching your logline blind you need to set up the story. With protag, antag, catalyst etc in as few words as possible.
Jaws in space is not a logline
Actually, I have all these tools (thank you...). What I was specifically looking for is a place where I could look at established, successful loglines for produced movies.
