Actors working for Actors!

Hello friends! It's a pleasure to be part of such a great group. I am an Arizona Novelist, Children's book Author, and Actor with Dani's agency. I have been acting professionally for 2 years, however I've been a dedicated performer for 15 years. I'm currently attending several workshops, and professional acting classes with the amazing coaches at Scottsdale Film and Theatre school. I have written 4 children's books, an autobiography, and a novel ~ all copyrighted, but I'm constantly looking for literary gurus to guide me toward the safest and most lucrative paths to production for my works. I sincerely enjoy performing - people are my thing! Always looking to perform, so keep me in mind for your next professional production!

Hi Amira - awesome to have you here. You should definitely join the discussion in the Authoring lounge: https://www.stage32.com/lounge/playwriting Any fun projects you're working on right now?

Brian Shell

Have you published your copyrighted books yet Amira? If not, Amazon offers an excellent platform to do so, and about 6 months ago, I published a blog for Stage 32 titled "4 Steps to ePublish." Amazon also enables you to publish children's books too... at their http://kdp.amazon.com site. Currently, I have 33 eBooks published and 9 paperbacks... and have done so myself... via Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

That's right. Here's the blog post that Brian referenced: https://www.stage32.com/blog/The-Ease-of-ePublishing

How do you feel about the royalties the Author makes on their books via Amazon publishing? Also, my main hold up is illustrations. I have manuscripts and text, but I keep being hindered at the illustration part. Thank you both for your responses to me! I will be sure to check that group out Tomasz.

Brian Shell

Amira, I really like Amazon's royalties for eBooks... you get 70% of the retail price if you price your eBooks between $2.99-$9.99. Compare that to a traditional publisher which offers 15% on the wholesale price... BIG difference. As for your children's books being hindered by illustrations, go to Amazon's kdp.amazon.com and read their help pages on how to publish a children's book. It's a bit more detailed than publishing an ordinary manuscript, but I believe that they have a few illustration tools that may be of assistance (though I've only published non-fiction and fictional books for adults... so don't quote me on that one).

That sounds awesome Brian! Thank you! I'm looking into it right now!

Anyone familiar with Apple's iBooks Author? Here's their blurb: Available free on the Mac App Store, iBooks Author is an amazing app that allows anyone to create beautiful iBooks Textbooks — and just about any other kind of book — for iPad and Mac. The app has been beautifully redesigned for OS X Yosemite. With galleries, video, interactive diagrams, 3D objects, mathematical expressions, and more, these books bring content to life in ways the printed page never could. http://www.apple.com/ibooks-author/

Brian Shell

@Amira... if I can be of assistance, let me know (though Children's books aren't my expertise). @Brian... glad to hear Apple is finally making it easier for authors to publish on their various platforms. That hasn't been the case for many past years... which is why I'm not familiar with iBooks Author.

Thanks, Brian -- as with so much else, I did not know that.

Amira Therese

Wow!! Thank you!!

Amira Therese

Darn. Unfortunately I don't use Mac or Iphone so the program is unavailable to me.
