Screenwriting : Anybody work with Anonymous Content? by Robert Kelly McAllister

Anybody work with Anonymous Content?

I have a tentative phone date with a VP in the production department to talk about my work- she's read four of my scripts and seems to like them- I am both excited and nervous- this is my first thing at this level- any advice?

Craig D Griffiths

There is a few things. This is a first date scenario. Ask as much as you talk. When I was in corporate sales I would work like hell to find their problem, their pain point and focus my pitch on solving that. Now finding this can be hard, you have to really listen to what is being said. Perhaps they need a dialogue person. Or they have ideas they want fleshed out. Telephone is your friend and your enemy. They can't see how nervous you are, but you can't see them checking their messages. No matter what, it is just a call. Leave them feeling good about something about you and you are successful.

Anonymous Content is a wonderful company. One of my clients is working with them right now and I've known a couple of their managers for years. Just be open, have ideas, they've already read you & liked you so don't feel you need to SELL them. Just have a normal conversation. If they have notes, take them in. Know what types of genres/projects/mediums you want to work in. Just seem like someone they will want to be around & work with for 10 years. No desperation!!

Thanks! Call is today- let's see what happens

So, the phone call went amazingly well- working on pilot for web series, as per exec's request- excited and nervous, working and writing all day and all night- good opportunity to further relationship, take the next step, etc. Thanks for the good advice!
