Welcome to Stage 32. You have a wonderful portfolio. Looking forward to your posts. I work with a lot of musicians and it is always great to hear about different ways people go about the scoring process. :)

Bryan, great hearing all that got to share. Music is a powerful tool in film and many cases it can even save a film, it did it for JAWS, John Williams score was the shark's heart beat. It made the audience shake in their seats and we didn't even see the shark. As we all know the mechanical shark was not behaving. Music also made a huge impact in John Carpenter's Halloween, someone like you Bryan a musician and a writer /director, so you got this, buddy. Hope to hear more in future post. Oh, btw, I'm a screenwriter, not a musician, but love a great music score in film as you can see from my comments. Sorry if I over stepped my boundaries.

Bryan: Just listened to your reel. Wow! You covered every emotion possible, from romantic, classical, suspenseful, action, touching, I could actually see your music in all kinds of film genres. I am curious, what would be the best lounge to write my posts in? I am basically walking you through the process of what I do when I accept a film, to when I lock the film. This is mainly geared towards people who are not composers, although composers are more than welcome to read, interact, and ask questions.

Who would you say this would benefit most, Bryan? Filmmakers? People working in post? If you click on Lounge you can see all the categories and descriptions of each section.

My aim is to educated Film makers about the process of composing a film.

Well if you are addressing the film composer community I would encourage you to use the Composer Lounge. My best advice is to try to keep things short and concise and cover one topic at a time, Like: Templates, or Using samples, etc... This way you can engage the community and keep it in a "what methods to you guys use" tone. Keep in mind the range of people here go from "just starting out" to "been in the industry a while". So you will get a range of responses as to how people work, and the hope is we all learn things along the way. It's all about engagement in the lounge and keeping the tone collaborative. But one thing to keep in mind it's not a place to showcase your music, I would encourage you to point to other composers (along with yourself) to how they do things and why you like it and how you've adapted it. Very excited you want to take the time to do this, really appreciate you wanting to be involved with S32! We have a great composing community here and can't wait to see your contribution.

I agree with Samuel. However, I think you have something to offer readers and contributors of both the Filmmaking and Composing Lounge sections.

Thanks Sam. For the month of April, the goal for my posts is to educate Film Makers on what composers do. I won't be going into how to anything technical like gear, software, samples, theory. I will be going over steps like the ones I have posted so far "Accepting a film", "Studying, and spotting a film".

Ah, I understand now... Filmmaking would be a good spot too. May want to check out what Chris Lennertz did for S32 to get a good starting point, and a place to start filling in from.

Samuel : Great advice that we can all use. I'm not a musician,but always here to support ALL my fellow S32 artist in anyway that I can. Cheers, brother.
