Hello everyone, My name is Desiree. I am trying to get more into screenwriting. I review movies for fun. Starting up a movie review podcast soon. Here is my FB page: https://www.facebook.com/Movies-According-to-Des-1623674957906895/ I am in the process of writing 4 scripts. I also recently finished my first video project. While it's not great, I learned a lot and I had fun taking a stab at editing. Don't think it was too bad for my first try! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t6NPGTOrVVM I want to make more! I have a lot of interest and passion so I am hoping I can get more involved in film making! I work as a mental health therapist for children and adolescents. I am really into human and animal rights and I love to travel the world. It is my goal to see all 50 US states and hit up as many countries as I can. I love meeting people and hearing about their lives. Love to network. It is nice to meet you all :)

hey, my advice... move to Los Angeles. and Learn how to make coffee and learn how to drive a manual shift car. I got my first Hollywood experience working with 2 TV/Film Producers (big time franchise guys) an they hired me because I could drive a stick shift (One of the Producers collected old cars) and I knew how to operate an expresso machine. (i worked at a coffee shop in college). And I also interviewed for director Michael Mann for a job as a '2nd 2nd office assistant'. (didn't get job). The first question out of the Interviewer, "Do you know how to drive a stick shift car?" WTF!!! Michael also collects old fancy cars.

Hi, Desiree, welcome! I write movie reviews (along with book reviews and human interest features). Nice to meet a fellow reviewer.
Dan Max, I thought you got your first job with credit cards. While I agree that runner jobs are a good way to break in, that's usually for crew work (and sometimes directors and producers too.) Actors tend to start as extras, and many can't drive, and writers might start as book writers (or as actors.)
I also do movie reviews. Do you make video reviews or written review and where do you release them?
Vasco i financed my first feature film with CC, sold my car and rolex

Try to get your reviews in newspapers and film mags. Not only do they pay, but they are more likely be seen by someone who has the power to green-light projects.
@Fayr Thank you so much for all of the great advice! I will definitely pay special attention to lighting next time around. That sounds like an amazing internship! I would love one like that. Sounds like your interns learned a whole lot!

Desiree- move to Los Angeles. Hollywood is not knocking on your door. U have to go to them. Unless you win a Nichols script contest, get 10s score on The Black List website, or win a major film festival like Sundance, or your family is connected/have $$$$$$$. for example, look at the young actor who is going to be the new Han Solo. He was discovered at a Bar mitzvah! He knew Spielberg's kid. Can't do that in nowheretown, USA. U got to move.
@Dan Max. I really hope to!
