Meet up in the bay area

Hi everyone, I'm a French APM currently in San Francisco and I'd love to extend my network here. If you are into animation or tv or/and film production, feel free to contact me. :-)

Beth Fox Heisinger

Hi Barbara. Perhaps also glance through the Meetups section and see if one is being held in San Francisco: https://www.stage32.com/meetups. Best to you!

@beth Thank you for your message, I checked the event and unfortunately there isn't any in the Bay Area.

Beth Fox Heisinger

You could perhaps organize one yourself? Restaurants, bars, coffee shops work well... Post it here on Stage 32 in Meetups. Or you could also utilize the Connect feature, found in the upper menu bar, and search our membership by occupation/location—reach out to specific people. Anyway, I hope your time in San Francisco is productive as well as enjoyable. :)

@Beth Thanks for your tips. I was planning to organize myself a meetup, but now I'm not sure it's a good idea. I wonder if anyone will show up ! But I guess I have to give it a try.

You're welcome, Barbara. :) I've organized a bunch myself. Yes, it's true you never know how many will show, however the Meetups section here does work as a RSVP which helps. Plus Stage 32 meetups are posted on RB's Weekend Blog to help notify members. Here's some additional tips... Choose a venue that's centrally located and has easy access: available parking, bus routes, etc. Restaurants with bars has worked well for me, as I wish for meetups to be social and not a working meeting. Lol! Also, holding it during the week and not on the weekend helps to avoid large crowds (depends on the venue). Many are able to socialize right after work, for example. Nonetheless, I've called ahead and talked to venues, asked what's the best time, made a reservation, held a couple of tables, etc... Also choosing a time like during "Happy Hour" to keep personal cost low, taking advantage of a venue's discount specials, etc, is very much appreciated by attendees. Most people understand it's "no-host" or that one must pay for their own drinks, food or coffee. Anyway, it's a fun way to meet people. Good luck and I wish you the best! ;)

Hey Barbara! I'm a bay area animator & animation professor. If you put together a meetup I'll be happy to be there. Of if you want to grab coffee and talk animation, we can do that too.

Barbara Zrinscak

Hi Paul ! I would love to meet you :-) Unfortunately I didn't had the chance to organize a meetup event during my stay, but If you're free tonight for happy hour or tomorrow, I'll be happy to grab a drink and talk animation :-) I'm leaving this Sunday so it's this time or never. ahaha

Hi Barbara, Sorry I didn't see this sooner :( I'm booked for tonight. Give me a shout when you're back up here and we'll get together then. Safe travels!
