Screenwriting : Do Requests Take Longer? by Susan Rocha Bays

Do Requests Take Longer?

I had a great pitch with an exec a few weeks ago and during the pitch she said twice that she wanted to read the script and was going to request it. I still haven't received my report/request. I also pitched a couple of other people during that time and received my reports (passes) relatively soon after. We're still in the "up to three week" window and I've used the time to improve the script based on notes I received from others, but I am getting a little nervous. So, does good news take longer?

Zlatan Mustafica

No, it has nothing to do with good or bad news, as you put it. Probably an administrative glitch. If I were you I would ask Happy Writers staff to check it out. Maybe the exec that was interested forgot to send it, or she/he sent it but the technology didin´t do its part? A lot can happen that one doesn´t realize at once. So reach out to Happy Writers staff for help, they´ll sort it all out for you. Presuming you pitched via Happy Writers, of course.

Susan, like Zlatan, I assume you're talking about Happy Writers? If so, please message Erik Grossman, or whoever was your contact. They will most certainly help. :) If not with Happy Writers... 3 weeks is a fair amount of time to touch base and inquire. ;)

Hi, thanks to you both. It was a pitch through HW and I emailed the assistant@HW as well as the help email address. Hopefully I'll know something soon.

Oh good, and you're welcome. :) Do keep in mind it's a holiday. Regardless, they will get back to you. Good luck with your script! I'll keep my fingers crossed! :)

You´re welcome, Susan. And I wish both of you ladies a happy 4th of July. Go have a drink :) And Susan, don´t wait around for that email. It´ll come when it´s time :) I wish you the best of luck going forward!
