Writing group / bouncing / collaboration

Hey all! I'm completely new to the idea of 'networking' . . . I was going to say online - but actually networking in general is pretty foreign to me. To put 'me' in perspective, I'm a filmmaker/artist/writer who lives on 16 acres in the middle of the nowhere in the SE Arizona desert. I literally work in my boxers and a t-shirt all day and generally go into town (10 miles away) only once or twice per week. I don't think I'm a recluse, but . . . On the other hand one of my favorite aspects of filmmaking is the collaboration! I've written, produced, directed and spent years as a cinematographer and always loved the whole process of working with a group. The last decade I focused on fine art, which is a much more isolated endeavor and I'm now getting back into film, having just finished post on a rather ambitious short film and am now writing and re-writing some more projects. MY POINT is - that I'm out here all by me onesy and I'm wondering how I can best connect with other writers. I love being able to bounce ideas off of someone, get feedback, etc. and am happy to reciprocate. I don't know if what I'm looking for is a collaborator, or just a writer's group of some sort; I'm unfamiliar with both. Any suggestions, pointers, links, thoughts, or good jokes are welcome!

I think you are on the right track here to feel things out. Welcome and perhaps we can chat sometime.

Roderick I completely understand. I am getting a Bachelors of Science Computer Animation and do not understand this networking. I know programs not networking much but it seems to be the way to go most of the time so we are forced.

Welcome Roderick! Writing groups are an incredible resource to not only get your own work read, but to read others and see how they approach writing certain scenes.

Hey there y'all! Thanks for chiming in. I had to step out and run errands in the big city today, so I'm just now back in my cocoon - er desk :-D So - are there writing groups here on Stage 32? I'm still trying to learn my way around the site - I've only utilized it thus far for about a half-dozen of the webinars, etc.
