I'm wondering if anyone has experience with using one of the various companies that take a fee for helping your crowdfund campaign. I've done two smaller campaigns that largely tapped my local market. I'd like to use local or internationals assistance to reach real fans not just my friends and existing network. I have a moderate social media following.

Ed, I believe that you will be much better served taking the time to identify your target audience on social as opposed to hiring a firm. No one will know this project better than you. Building an audience takes time, engaging them takes patience. But in the long run, you want an army supporting YOU and carrying YOUR message.

Wouldn't go that far, but crowdsourcing is certainly something I know. And every successful crowdfunding campaign contains an element of crowdsourcing.

you are very wise RB and this network on stage 32 is powerful remember it's really took me from "can't go on" to "I'm winning awards" but it was all the WORK and NETWORKING.
I might provide the vehicle, Stephen, but you have to add the fuel...And you provide the high octane!

See it? I named my first dog Sandy. No lie.

John Travolta had the song "Sandy" written for him because ONJ had the new song "Hopelessly Devoted to You" written for her. "Grease Live" was pretty great, too.
Ah...Some useful trivia there, paisan!

Tomasz recommended using indiegogo /generosity! As far as Social media goes, I have been successful in a Global presence from a Music Video that in my opinion, lends itself for a possible Producer connection as the two are are mutually connected! The upload of my work to the log line has not proved very successful as I get no feedback or comments on my scripts! Perhaps, one of these days. In the meantime, I keep writing and concentrating on my Art with a mindset to never give up! YOLO!
I think I've done the groundwork. But as I stand 40 days from planned crowdfund, I wish I'd began trying to connect with target audiences earlier. We're also going a live fundraiser Feb. 21 before the Feb. 22 kick off to crowdfund so it's like back-to-back marketing to two different audiences.
I did want to share this social media tool I'm using to help launch the campaign. http://thndr.me/Iru4ly
from my experience with crowdfunding I wouldn't necessarily go with a crowdfunding firm but definitely get at least one other person to help you - it is a lot of work to keep pushing a crowdfunding campaign, its really too much for one person if you want it to be really successful.
April! I can get you $500,000 or more for your movie project. But your film production company or any kind of business you have must generate an income of at least $10,000 per month.
