Hey all, I thought I create my first non-introductory post to talk about how I chase this Directing rabbit through daily routines. Honestly, I'd love feedback as well as some insights into what others do daily, but I'd really love for this gives some folks some ideas of what they can integrate into their daily routine.
First and foremost, I should mention that I am a freelancer, so this schedule is someone that does have days off.
My first big revelation was that I wanted to Direct for a living, not that I wanted to be a Director, not that I thought it'd be cool to Direct. I want to Direct content for a living. What this revelation told me is that I MUST spend at least 8 hours/day focusing on moving towards the goal of directing for a living.
As a freelance crew member, I used to spend days which I wasn't on-set for 12+ hours, trying to find a way to fill my day. Going to the gym, Watching TV, sometimes being productive. By forcing myself to focus on my filmmaking career for at least 8 hours I've seen a HUGE uptick in my productivity and I feel like I am actively on my way to creating a career for myself doing what I want to do for a living.
