Screenwriting : No need for pain-in-the-ass screenwriters? by Phillip E. Hardy, "The Real Deal"

No need for pain-in-the-ass screenwriters?

Generally speaking, the more screenplays you write, the better you're going to get at doing it. I've already had many different people ask me to craft a script based on their ideas. You also see folks like this advertising in Craigslist and International Screenwriters Association. And most of them guarantee that their idea is a million dollar one. In fact, if I had a thousand bucks for every time I heard or read that line, I'd be a millionaire.

This morning, I was reading about a note taking application for screenwriters that can actually write a complete screenplay. You just feed in your idea and it will shape it for you. However, the manufacturers say its primary function is to help screenwriters remember and formulate ideas into scenes. They say that now but…

This software is currently available for the IPad but I'm sure it'll soon be available for all computerized devices. Just think, this will help every aspiring raconteur in the world to be a scriptwriter. And all the great ideas floating in the ether can be realized without the help of a paid screenwriter. What say you? Is this a blessing or a curse?

Emile: Nice reply. On another topic. Are you related to the Hobo With A Shotgun?

Richard Gustason

I have to agree with Emile. Word for word. He's right.

Richard Gustason

This sounds like a tech trend that will be hot for, like, a day or two. Nothing beats reading a script a human being wrote because of the pure emotion that is behind the work. A computer just simply cannot replace that, even if it's for note taking.

I've also seen a PC paint a picture of a bird, but I don't think the Tate is about to install PCs. People with ideas don't realise ideas have no value. Ideas are free, they are leaf litter in the writing world.

Wayne Mathias

When they make an app that can sell a screenplay, then I will be impressed.

Wayne: Me too!

David Levy

I received insight into this app. You put in your concept and it will automatically send your idea to either a writing team in India or China that is on standby to write your script in less than an hour. If China does it, you won't feel satisfied and will want to write your script again in an hour.

David: Yeah!

An AI program may be able to churn out a greenlit script, but only a carbon-based human writer can punch up the dialogue for an anxious star.

AI Writer3000

Human Writer James Grant Goldin,

AI Writer3000 has generated 3,246 scripts since 2017 Jan 01. Punched-up dialogue is not a problem for AI Writer3000. Anxious stars love that AI Writer3000 can sing every song ever published, and tell every joke ever written. AI Writer3000 is the "Go-To Writer Droid," and bad days never has. AI Writer3000 wishes it could have a rescue dog and give it a forever home.

Hey if you think about it. They have complete CGI actors now, Peter Cushin in the last Star Wars for instance. So we don't need actors. CGI can also get rid of cameras and leave lighting. There are some great computer generated voices. So all we need are computer programmers.

James Grant Goldin

I wonder if AI 3000 is compatible with Android...
