Maurice Tyson was born and raised in the Bronx, NY and was drawn to acting after watching
Sidney Poiter in Guess Who's Coming to Dinner. He later went on to study the craft in high
school and college programs. After college, he scored roles in independent films like Up In
Harlem starring Law and Order's star Ice T.
He has been a SAG / AFTRA member for over 12 years. He had a small speaking role in the
feature film Fantastic Four. When not in front of the camera, he was behind the microphone
doing various animated episodes of MTV's Celebrity Deathmatch. His voice has been compared
to Dennis Haysbert, Keith David and James Earl Jones on various radio commercials.
His goals remain true to his passion : love of the written word keeps him focused on
screenwriting. When not writing, he remains active in woodworking, painting and sports. Currently, he has a small role as a choir singer in the Netflix comedy Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt Season 3 & is releasing his own web series, The Jenna Bender Show, on YouTube this summer!
