Screenwriting : How much feed-back do you think it's enough? by Victor Titimas

How much feed-back do you think it's enough?

There are various reviewing/coverage services offering feed-back of various lengths(usually from 1/2 pages to 10). How many pages of review do you think can provide someone enough help? If you were running(run) such a service, how many pages(not including synopsis) would you offer in order to give a writer enough information to really improve a screenplay?

Pierre Langenegger

I see a lot of services offering feedback of X amount of pages for one cost and X amount more for another cost. I think that's crap. Feedback is feedback. When I read someone's script in order to provide feedback I start at the beginning of the script and work my way through to the end and then I write a report. Some scripts may only take me three pages of notes to say what I need to say and some may take fifteen so I've always felt that those that say they'll provide more pages for more money are just trying to rip people off. Think about it, it's the same script they've just read but they're limiting the amount of advice they're going to give you because you haven't paid the full amount? My advice is you should never trust a service that works to this model because it's just being opportunistic. Look for a service that charges per script, not per page.

Craig D Griffiths

Yep I have read script that I couldn't give less than 8 pages of notes. Other are so good I would be lucky to fill a page. Plus want are the notes. I prefer notes from people that give the experience, like I am confused at page 21, rather than 'you need a B story on the page'.

Jeffrey Khoza

I fully agree with you guys. My question to you two is, how much for a single script? Since I have scripts of my own that I would like for the to be read so I can get some feedback?

Pierre Langenegger

Jeffrey, PM sent.
