Cheers from Boston. My name is Jerry Robbins, and I've been writing for 22 years; it's only in the last couple of years that I started writing screenplays as my primary focus. I got started writing full cast Audio Dramas, just about 470 of them now, released thru my publishers Brilliance Audio and Blackstone Audio. In audio, I have dramatized CAPTAIN BLOOD, TREASURE ISLAND, THE ALAMO, GETTYSBURG, THE BLACK ARROW, and many more "feature" length productions, as well as several audio series including BEACON HILL, ROYALL HOUSE, YANKEE CLIPPER, THE DIBBLE SHOW, ALL FOR ONE, TICONDEROGA, and a western series called POWDER RIVER, which ran 12 years and 162 episodes. I just completed a TV pilot episode for POWDER RIVER, and I'm working on a feature of the title as well. In 2006 I started working with Ray Bradbury, producing his DANDELION WINE as an audio drama, which was followed by SOMETHING WICKED THIS WAY COMES. Ray wrote the scripts for those, and then he asked me to write the scripts for THE HALLOWEEN TREE and THE MARTIAN CHRONICLES. What an incredible experience that was! With composer Jeffrey Gage, I've written an animated (or live action/CGI) holiday musical screenplay called JIMMY AND THE STAR ANGEL, which we tried out first as an audio drama, and it won a Parents' Choice Award as best Audio. I've been pitching it, however a holiday animated feature is a tough sell - but I'll keep trying! I also have a horror script called THEY BECKON, and a lower-budget "Hallmark channel" style screenplay called THE CHRISTMAS OF FIFTY YEARS, as well as 2 pilots. I've learned one thing - writing screenplays is incredibly hard work - much more so than audio drama; and I love it!

Hey Jerry, welcome

Jerry: Congratulations on your work! I am getting into audio drama with a pirate-based series that is an extension of my one-man theatre show here in North Carolina. I was developing another series that is being converted into novellas. I also am the story creator of an Escape Room called Blackbeard's Quest that stems from my historical education programming in the Golden Age of Piracy. I am currently reading Captain Blood and recently completed a musical adaptation of Treasure Island that will be produced in the next few years. The composer is working on the songs. Continued success from a kindred spirit!

That sounds great, Joey. Pirate stories are always popular - our production of CAPTAIN BLOOD covered pretty much the entire book and runs about 7 hours. It was a monster to produce, but such a great story. I did 4 episodes of a mini-series called PIRATE LEGENDS, based on New England Pirates - of which very little information is available. Funny story - in one episode, the information was so scarce I had to make up some scenarios to fill up the 30minutes. Years later, I was reading a book on Pirates in a Salem MA gift shop, and they had a segment on this pirates - which included the stuff I had made up as part of historical fact! I think your pirate series would do great in downloads or even as CD's to sell at your live shows. Best of luck with it!

Thank you, Dawn! Very happy I found Stage32!

Jerry: That is a great story about the New England pirates! Seems to get scarcer going up the coast. I am right in the town (Beaufort, NC) where Blackbeard scuttled the Queen Anne's Revenge and just a few hours from he lost his head. Thanks for the good words!
