Financing / Crowdfunding : Anybody have advice? by Rebekah McAuliffe

Rebekah McAuliffe

Anybody have advice?

Hello, all.

I'm currently in pre-production on my very first feature, a documentary about the fight for affirmation and equality of LGBTQ people within the Christian faith. However, I know nothing about raising money and crowdfunding. Could I do an IndieGoGo or Kickstarter? Ask to partner with charities? This topic, this fight is very close to my heart, and I want to give it the attention it deserves, so I want to give it my all.

It's like asking for a date: if the first one says no, move on to the next. Use both. I like your topic. If I hadn't been hit by the IRS, I would finance you, I like the idea of your project. I love to see it when it is finished.

Hire a seasoned Producer. It is called "Show Business", not "Show Art."

There are a large amount of grants for documentary films out there. Here is a link to use, and, hopefully, you can put together a winning pitch and/or other material that will help you garner one of these. Good luck to you.

Grants are good... or you could start talking creatively about your film in a blockchain blog and earn money.
