Showcasing Screenplays

Readying to go to my first film festival, where I'll be showcasing my recently completed screenplay! Any advice from fellow filmmakers on how one might best approach development professionals?

Joleene DesRosiers

Oooh! Exciting. Here's what I took away after my first festival, and how I learned to network properly: https://www.stage32.com/blog/How-To-Network-So-Producers-Choose-YOU

I will let someone else comment on this. I found it difficult even though I was a finalist and runner-up. But I'm sure you'll have personality skills which will carry you through.

Listen to Joleene. And read that link. After all, she is a moderator and has street cred!!!

Joleene DesRosiers

Steven Harris Anzelowitz I'm only a moderator because they trust me to put words together for the blog here on Stage 32. :) Little do they know about my world domination plan....

But in all honesty, Shenendoah Thompson , just be YOU. Think of how you would want to be approached. With ease, right? Networking is about building relationships. That's it. I went to ITVFest last year, and I never mentioned my script to anyone. It seems counterproductive, right? But it wasn't. I made fantastic connections that had me on the set of two different project within a year. Those directors remembered ME....and reached out. We've since become friends, too. One of them is kind enough to let me stay in her apartment every time I'm in New York. That's HUGE, especially if you've been to New York and you understand the money you can drop trying to find a place to lay your head.

I mean, if you're yapping with someone, ask about THEM. Let them talk. Make them feel important. Eventually they'll say, "And what have you got?" Then you can start chatting about your project. And if they don't ask, it's all good. Just be chill. Don't attach any expectations to the conversation. Just be relaxed. Like Dan MaxXx said, buy 'em a brew. But don't try to sleep with them on the first date.

We wish you the best. Truly. Just have fun with it and enjoy the process.

Really listen to Joleene. You have to earn the MODERATOR position. And she has a great sense if humor too!!

Hahaha Dan MaxXx. That's a plan! Joleene DesRosiers it's a great approach!
