Like many writers who have had no one to rely on but yourselves, my time is split between freelance writing for money and writing to hopefully and ultimately have a final product to market to directors. I feel like I am trapped in Chicago, the land of the disappearing sun where the weather controls people's moods and creativity. If you live here for years, you will realize what a phenomena Oprah was living here.
If you are looking for inspiration and motivation, I think spending time with other writers is one of the best ways to energize yourself. Coming together each week for writers group is what pushes me to write more than anything (even when I'm dead tired after a days work).
I seem to be truly affected by the weather, and it has gotten worse living in the Rogers Park area. I am working on finding a place either in Davis, Ca —a sunny college town— or a hip area of Chicago, which doesn’t solve the weather problem but at least would get me away from a very poor, down and out area. You’ve heard birds of a feather flock together; energy and the vibrational level is a serious matter when you are an empath and intuitive. I can feel all the negative thought and emotions from those who live here. My advice to all who are trying to save money—don’t live in a poor neighborhood to save money. Spend it on rent in a nice neighborhood and cut expenses somewhere else.
