I came across an article comparing the two positions, so I wanted to share but also open this up for discussion: https://christopherming.com/2018/05/showrunner-assistant-or-writers-assistant/
For anyone trying to break in, I feel any position would be greatly appreciated. Both positions open up better opportunities to network and make connections, but having the chance to work in a writers room would be great, and gaining a macro-grasp on the production would wouldn't be bad either. So which is it? Take what you can get, or really push for the one you want? Does anybody have experience in either?
Cheers!

Agree. Take whatever job that puts you in places where people do this (entertainment) for a living.
