Hi Gabrielle, Writing the TV Drama Series by Pamela Douglas and The TV Showrunner’s Roadmap by Neil Landau are ones I have found value in... but keep in mind, any book out there presupposes that you have a solid foundation in basic story structure before you get into them. This is critical. Every aspect of TV writing (pilot, episodes, seasons and entire series), features, shorts, web series, commercials, video games all depend on you being able to apply and work with story structure elements.
tv is a different species from cinema... cause the comercial breaks demands story to be interesting enough to get back to watch.
there are a list of 'gizmos' to open and close scenes, to prepare punch line...' the shorter the show, the mighty difficult it is.
recomend to get a youtube show testing your writing - shoot with phone, friends, even yourself as a clone... to test if the scene gets emotion... link back if you do ! chees from Rio

No. There are a great number of similarities but there are some unique attributes to each - do your research. All the best.
You really should do your research. Check out amazon. There's tons of book there. Read scripts as well.
