Best/Favorite/Good Scenes

What are...

The best scenes ever?

Your favorite scenes ever?

Good scenes in general?

Jean Buschmann

Every scene in CASABLANCA. :) - Such authentic characters, great story and plot, organic dialog, and the most memorable one liners ever! The tension was also palpable at every level - from the characters' raw and unresolved emotions, to the riveting backdrop of the war, and the ongoing drama of the unfolding plot. LOVE it!

Enola Gay

"V For Vendetta" The 1812 Overture

Craig D Griffiths

Best Scene ever is between Ray Liotta and Robert De Niro in the cafe. De Niro is setting up Ray. But Ray can't show that he knows, otherwise Robert would see it as well. So how was it done?

They physically moved the camera back while zooming in at the same time. Doing this Robert and Ray stay the same size in the shot, but more of the background comes into the frame. This is when camera and script tell a story.

Favourite Scene: Hell and High Water. Jeff Bridges and Chris Pine talking on the porch in the last scene. Subtext so thick you couldn't walk through it.

General Scene: Die Hard, when he is talking to Al about what he had observed on the dead terrorist. Great exposition and informs character as well.

Tony S.

HAL's electronic lobotomy in "2001: A Space Odyssey."

The wedding at the end of "The Best Years of Our Lives."

The entirety of "Adaptation."

The assault on and destruction of the Death Star in "Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope."

Doc Graham sacrificing his baseball dream to save Karin in "Field of Dreams."

Phillip E. Hardy, "The Pro From Dover"

The first scene of The Godfather is brilliant. Also the opening of The Wild Bunch where they shoot up the town is pretty damn great.
