Adult/Romance Script

Greetings, I have a full feature script of a bisexual, female sex addict. It is quite intense but not pornography. I have had is read professional but did not get guidance on options to pitch it. I am wondering if there is one production house that would be more interested in it then another? Does anyone know of reaching out to Netflix sound like an option?

Stephen Floyd

Netflix doesn’t mind racier stuff, and has produced a lot of original LGBTQ cinema, so sounds like you’re on the right track.

Netflix isn't a mom & pop shop. They're a studio. Must have representation, legit producer, prod company - more than a script to meet with studio Execs.

Start targeting Producers and filmmakers in your genre wheelhouse.

Thank you all for you comments. Yes, I know the road is long. I keep getting people thinking its a porn,, but I am still weeding through the producers and filmmakers in my genre. Thanks again for letting me know I am on the right track at least.

Writers with high volume book sales go straight to front of lines.

Debra why don't you try a few competitions. I think Stage 32 are running one right now.

Debra Shade

Karen Stark that is a great idea. Thanks.

Debra: I agree with Dan. Get IMDb pro if you don't already have it and research producers/actors that you think might like to read your script. It's a long shot but you can occasionally get through. I got through to a well-known regular on an ABC show last year and scored a chance at writing a feature script. However, make sure you have a good pitch to send.

Debra, There are several LGBTQ-specific distributors. And, Dan is right - you do have to know someone to get to NETFLIX. For example, I know a producer that can get a letter of distribution from NETFLIX to help raise capital, IF they like it and IF you accept their deal (which may not be the kind of deal you are looking for). There are also several prominent and independent, but still known, LGBTQ actors, who also produce their own material. I think you need, not only to get the script evaluated by someone without an ulterior motive, but also a plan of attack. You can attach certain actors, get a letter of distribution and even approach certain investors that would want a project like this. I do offer a very affordable coverage service that will not ONLY give you script notes, but also give you that plan of attack. Certain production companies or actors that might be interested in a script like this. While this guarantees you nothing, I believe it will point you in the right direction of getting places to send the script and also getting you that valuable plan of attack. And, who knows? My friend who deals with NETFLIX may just like it? Not saying he would, but it's always a possibility. And, again, that's not a guarantee, but a possibility. As a producer of 15 films including seven features and a short that qualified for the Oscars, I have helped others not only improve their script but in some cases get their project started. If you are interested, don't hesitate to reach out. Either way, BREAK LEGS! GOD BLESS and STAY FRESH! <3
