Hey Guys. I am an actor in North NJ that is looking to create a weekly meetup with fellow actors, where we can work on material. (Scenes, monologues...etc.) Kind of like a class but well... without the price of a class. Any takers?
Christopher, And, this is coming from a Director who made a short that qualified for the Oscars and has helmed two features and a producer of 18 films, if you are indeed a "serious" actor you shouldn't be looking to save money on a class. Meryl Streep still takes classes. Also, a class has no value if you have no real instructor and are just working with fellow actors. You really do get what you pay for sometimes. Yes, I teach a twice-monthly workshop in North, New Jersey and my actors REALLY work. Nearly fifty times actors have been hired out of my class, either by myself or my many guests. I hired one student to act opposite an Oscar-Winner, several Oscar-Nominees and Natasha Lyonne in a feature. During my February Class an actor was tabbed to play a lead in a horror short by one of my guests, one that they have plans to make into a feature. One of my previous guests worked at Universal Studios. Another was a major cast member on The Sopranos and actually did scenes with the students. Sound worth the price of admission? If you are serious, why don't you reach out? But, only if you're serious. Break Legs! GOD BLESS and STAY FRESH! ;)
FYI - My class IS a scene-study class. We also do at least one improv per workshop. AND< we cover the business side of the business, where I believe many actors fail.
