Screenwriting : My first Pitch Meeting with a Hollywood Exec was encouraging. by Margaret Writes

My first Pitch Meeting with a Hollywood Exec was encouraging.

I am brand new in the script-writing world and I hope to learn what it takes to be successful. I am currently writing a script for a unique tv drama series titled "Civil Rights Diaries" based in Washington DC. The outcome of a Pitch meeting is the request for two episodes. I have a Hollywood actor already interested in the role of a show-runner. He is currently acting in several tv series on networks now.

LOGLINE:

A Civil Rights icon known as “The Mother of the Movement” dies at the age of 101 years old. Her house was like a chapel and the kitchen a confessional booth where the sins of the Civil Rights fathers were confessed over a pot of collards greens or a bowl of chitlins. Scorned spouses, adulterers, murderers, pedophiles and more, hoped she would take their secrets to her grave. And she did. What they didn’t know was that she also kept a diary.

These stories play into the intersection of politics, race, civil rights, old, new and into the present. Judy Smith, “Scandal” shares back stories on the White House side and our writing team shares back stories derived from years as an Investigative Reporter on the Legislative side of Washington DC. Weekly the show will provide stories that happened in Washington DC that people have NO IDEA happened.

Writing the pilot is a huge challenge for me but I have already written written the outline for 6 episodes and several scenes for ACT ONE and ACT TWO. I'm looking forward to learning as much as I can

Any thoughts?

Stephen Floyd

Sounds like a best foot forward. Keep up the good work.

Phil Parker

Congrats on the script request. That's interesting that they requested two episodes. I wouldn't write more than those two, though. Most execs will only ask for your pilot script and your show bible. Best of luck with the project.

Juno Dante Night

I would watch this. Sounds like you are heading in the right direction.

Anthony Moore

Congratulations.

Dan MaxXx

So who's the main character?

Rick Oldham

It's interesting you bring this subject up. Yesterday I had my own pitch session for a science fiction 1 hour TV pilot. I have written the pilot. Also a synopsis and log line. He asked me to write a show Bible. Good luck to you and me. I hope we both make it.

Margaret, way to go! All the VERY BEST to you!

Cheryl Boyles

Please put your logline up where we can show it some love! You are this far already with your deeply compelling premise; you are already successful, Margaret!

Hi Cheryl, thanks so much for your kind response. Is there a specific location to post logline?

Congrats on making some leeway, Margaret! From the sounds of it, I would definitely watch something like that, seems an interesting premise. Wishing you the best moving forward!

Oh! Rick. Congrats to you as well on the positive feedback. Best of luck, bro!
