Hello everyone. Does anyone here know of a great website, etc. for trademark registration. I am about to begin researching how to trademark a name for a production company. I figure I'd ask my STAGE 32 contacts if they had any advice on this as well. I've dealt with registering and copyrighting screenplays, but this will be the first time dealing with Trademark Registration. Thank you everyone. - Tony

https://uspto.gov Great information on the site. But I recommend going through an intellectual property attorney. I did that for my trademark effort.

John Ellis, having partnered with a filmmaker that knows a lot more than I do (has been making films for years/has his own production company) he advised me to trademark the name of my production company(or the idea I have for it). I also had to question why and thus am doing my research. Here is a link to a some reasons why one might want to register a trademark. J Anthony Ramos Thanks for the link, it was informative. I, personally, am not convinced a trademark is useful to a prodco. I mean, a trademark is used to identify a company that makes a specific good or product. Even allowing that a film is a specific good, if, as a company, you make several films, are they all going to be the same? Or is each one unique? Plus, the best advice I've been given is that each film should be under its own production company - to keep separate the IP, so that if legal problems arise, third parties can't touch the other films. Does that mean each company/film needs its own trademark? IDK.

Well Anthony, WIX.COM is a rather cheap option, and one can make his or her own design, and they have free templates. My late husband was working with this.
