Hello Beth. Asked what was on my mind, I ranted (a little) about the difficulty of writing a synopsis of completely original work, of a genre not seen before and therefore very difficult to sum it up in short style - let alone sum it up as a one liner. So, I was expressing disappointment at feeling unable to get my kind of work in front of members.
I tried to post this thought and it disappeared. Difficult to prove, I guess and, anyway, I don't want to stir things up and recognise that this well meaning 'Stage 32' is not going to be much help to me.
Sorry to hear about that Malcolm. Not sure what might have happened. Stage32 is very much a helpful resource, one that has helped me a lot on this journey. Haven't had any issues with posts or anything so I apologize in general you feel that way. Do hope you stick around :) Maybe it was a glitch or error and not done on purpose.
Hmmm... Well, it sounds like some sort of technical issue may have occurred, maybe? There’s certainly no reason for S32 to intervene. Sometimes, posts are moved for organizational reasons, say, if a member posts a promotional poster for their upcoming project in Screenwriting then that post will be moved to Your Stage. But I did not see that was the case here. Regardless, I’m sorry you had that experience. Perhaps change your mind and do post again. We have an insightful, helpful and generous community here at S32. You never know, others may share your feelings or offer suggestions. Best to you!
Well, Beth, you may well be right. But the difficulty of presenting my work is still the same. I don't hold anyone responsible for this other than myself for misconstruing the purpose and advantages (for many) of Stage 32.
Malcolm, the frustration you describe is common to all screenwriters. Writing a synopsis or logline is a skill you develop just like writing dialogue or action. I would encourage you to keep at it. Think of it less as a problem of cramming something vast into a small space and more a problem of self-symmetry.
You may well be right Stephen. I have successfully sold a story that became a film VANISHING POINT. It became the biggest grosser in its day. It was a two page outline.
Hi, Malcolm. No idea what you are referring to? I don't see anything? Perhaps re-post or comment?
