Hi Guys!
I've read a lot of threads in here, been involved in film financing myself, as well as read a boat load of different testimonials when it comes to film financing. I've noticed some patterns. I know the big question is "how can I get my film funded?" That's the big question. I implore to reframe the question as "how can I make my film fundable?" or "how can I make people WANT to fund my film?"
By reframing the question, it puts the responsibility back onto the filmmaker in making the film's script and package (including business plan) as best as they can be. Investors KNOW that there are risks when investing in a film. They weren't born yesterday and they are INVESTORS. They get it and want you to be upfront about it. It's how you manage their risks that they want to know. This should feel empowering to know that it's up to us to create the best quality packages, and it will make connecting with investors A LOT easier. It's kind of like that saying, "a good product sells itself."
I discuss this more in a podcast episode I recorded and just released yesterday. Let me know if you agree or disagree. Let's have a discourse and get some worth while movies funded!
