Thomas Needell wrote his first script: “Miami Vice; “American Storm” which sold, however the show was in its last season, so the script never aired. He also wrote Star Trek: “The Next Generation“, “The Planet of Merlin” which was optioned. After that to further hone his comedy writing skills, Tom tried stand-up comedy in a local club. This led to a successful comedy career in which he performed in all the major Comedy clubs in Southern California for the next ten years. This led to his first comedy script “Night Court”: “Sex Dan and Videotape”. Tom has since written numerous sitcom scripts including “Mad about You”, “Two and a Half Men”, and “How I Met Your Mother”. Also, Tom has worked as a sound editor, supervising sound editor and Freelance picture editor. His sound - editing career span two decades in which he worked on major A-list features and TV shows like: “Clear and Present Danger”, “Independence Day”, “Start Track: Generations”, and “Dr. Quinn, Medicine Women” just to mention a few.
Tom also worked on several animation series like; “Dark Wing Duck”, “New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh” and “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” among others as an assistant editor. He received Daytime Emmy Award for “Duck Tails” the TV series produced by Disney and starring Alan Young. He married an actress and comedian Pola Mazur and wrote the TV Pilot script “Polish Royalty and the Goat” based on her stand-up comedy, which became a successful Web- series. Tom is currently Executive Producer/Writer/Director/Editor of the series. Recently his “Polish Royalty and the Goat” comedy short won a prestigious 2013 Indie Fest Award of Merit for humor.
