So many projects have been on hold over the past few months, but trying to get somethings done, here in Toronto. How have people been fairing, trying to make some films during this Pandemic?
Good to meet you Andrew. I like the idea of Canada. You have a solid film industry there. I did some work for Brandon Chronenberg recently on 'Possessor' and once knew a financier who made his name making films in Canada.
Here in the UK, people are getting back to shooting. I know a million pound budget film is going. They hired a whole hotel and everyone, including caterers are isolating in there. No one can leave the hotel or nearby set and, on set, they eat in thier own cars. Everyone is tested everyday for the virus and they are contracted to take care of theimselves, as insurance just can't be covered! Too expensive.
Personally, after a talk with my agent of casting people asking for 'specifics' I developed a sequence of five scripted genre pieces with two or more characters, each 2 minutes long. I managed to get the commercial and Sci Fi idea finished ( https://vimeo.com/447429258) and I'm re writing the rest so it's just me! (all different accents, all different genre's) Really hate the lack of collaboration. Loosing the 'team work' element is making the job of acting lack all the magic I love, so motivation is low. I'm doing a lot more singing and taking a song writing course on line which, actually, I should be doing right now . . . !!!! All the best Andrew.
