Hey y'all,
Happy Sunday! It's rainy in Appalachian Ohio today, but the work is progressing nicely. My name is Rhee Dolly, and I'm a TV writer who focuses on writing about the Black Appalachian experience. My goal is to give Appalachia more representation because it's still predominantly white. It'll be a while, but one day I'll make it happen.
Right now, I'm working on a story about a Black beekeeper who is forced to choose between going on tour with her band or staying behind and tending to her responsibilities. Another story I'm working on is about two Black sororities competing for land at their college, also based in Appalachia. I'm having a blast writing it.
I'm also a story consultant and help writers make their scripts better.
I hope y'all are staying safe and healthy. Happy early Thanksgiving!

Hi Rhee,
My grandfather's family was from West VA and though I grew up in the Northeast (NH), my Pop brought a lot of the south into our lives, so I've always felt a strange connection to that seriously complicated part of our country. There's such violence under the lush beauty.
I'm so happy to see folks writing stories like the one's you're working on. They sound deep and strong. Looking forward to sitting my ass in a theatre with a bucket of butter popcorn to watch. ;) Best of luck.
