Juliana, It does have a role reversal. The woman is adventurous, independent and sensuous, while the Protagonist is comfortable being more passive (and more comfortable around reptiles than people) until they meet. She is both his Love Interest and secondary mentor. He realizes the inner hero that lies within from his father whom he never met (died in WW2).
