I'm a published writer but recently self-published a book as it was quite an experimental piece, a 'musical novel' - all monologues with multiples POVs and has songs to accompany it. I am really trying to find the best way to write a screenplay for it. I'm not a polished screenwriter so trying to find out if there are services out there to find someone to do it for you? Or, can you make a pitch with a book and not a finished screenplay? I did put a lot of time into writing a screenplay before having had interest in another book but I didn't do a great job and blew the chance. And you don't get a second chance. If anyone has any advice, thanks in advance.

I have no advice. But perhaps a resource. If you go to Johnaugust.com and find the scriptnotes podcast transcripts. John had a few episodes talking pitching and getting ready to put ‘Big Fish’ on broadway.
He was adapting a film to a musical. But there may be some gold in that.

@Dan is right there are other chances with other producers, either by spending time improving your own screenplay skillset or getting help from another writer. I think you are being hard on yourself cos I don't even know of a best seller screenwriter who wrote a successful "First Draft."
Thanks all, much obliged for the advice.
