Hi everyone, I'm one half of a multi-award winning British composing duo who've worked together for 25 years. We're contemporary acoustic composers with studios based in Cambridge with external studios, agents and publishers in London.
Our background is in scoring games, in the past decade we've slowly carved a niche in the world of film & TV, having scored 11 features and coincidentally 11 TV shows alongside our work in games. We're most known in games for our orchestral fantasy scores to Sony's MediEvil series, I've just posted a link to a little film Sony America asked us to put together for last Halloween about our enduring work on this franchise. The MediEvil series will be inaugurated in Official PlayStation Magazine's 'Games Greatest Soundtracks' of all time hall of fame later this year.
Genre wise I'm a HUGE sci-fi fan - we've not worked on sci-fi films or TV shows yet but would love to - we have done for games such as Brink & Killzone.
We discovered how much we love mixing traditional and exotic world instruments and blend them into a something unusual, we've built up a huge network of exotic players from all over the world to craft scores that are unique, combining that with our passion for writing memorable hooky themes that stick in your head, that's us in a nutshell.
Am looking to connect with folks in film & tv.
Thanks for reading!
Hey, Andrew Barnabas! Good to see you again! Welcome to another fun-filled Introduce Yourself Weekend! If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend RB's 5 Step Challenge: https://www.stage32.com/blog/Make-Career-Changing-Connections-on-Stage-32-Introduce-Yourself-Weekend-Challenge
As part of that challenge, I've enlisted a Networking Wingman, my friend Luis Ramon Quintero (https://www.stage32.com/lrquintero). As he says, if David Fincher and Guillermo Del Toro had a lovechild, he would be that writer/director! His style is cerebral and dark, but always with a ray of hope. After meeting him, I can say this is a fantastic reflection of his personality - he's quite the ray of sunshine! Especially since you are interested in doing SciFi, I think you'd dig Luis's style. He also loves to travel, try new food, and would love to learn more languages (he's already bilingual).
OMG, I'd LOVE for you to post in the Composing Lounge about your experience with "Going Medieval"! How fun! https://www.stage32.com/lounge/composing I may even have a few scripts set in the Medieval time period :-D
Hey Karen,
Thank you for such a lovely response, please excuse my delayed reply - I just had some time off for my 1st wedding anniversary, hoorah, still hoping we can go on our honeymoon once Covid takes a hike, until then we had some well earned time to ourselves and not just nursery runs and work.
Thank you so much for the shout out to your wingman Luis. I'll get in touch and introduce myself.
And that's a great idea, I'll post Going MediEvil in the composing lounge. As folks describe our score to it, it's like Danny Elfman meets Monty Python.
Hope we get a chance to speak again soon.
Cheers!
A
