Hey, Stage 32 Actors! I just posted this in the Filmmaking Lounge including a link to a video about how Steve McQueen was about to work with John Boyega to craft a moment. It just got me thinking - I'd love for y'all to share something a director has done to help you get to a place to be able to really tap into the emotionality of a scene.

If you scroll through, there is another conversation about how Clint Eastwood doesn't call "Action!" on set - would love your feedback on that, too! https://www.stage32.com/lounge/directing/no-action-yelling-on-set-what-d...

I worked with Clint over five weeks on Pale Rider, and he often would say, “When you’re ready.” He’d also shoot the rehearsals (which I believe he got from director Don Siegel, who may have gotten the tradition from director John Ford), and often if the rehearsal was good, he’d move on to the next shot. There are several reasons why, the actors May tense up thinking it’s a take or when they hear ‘action’, also the performance is usually more natural and it saves time (and if you’re still using it, film), and money.
