A great story is unfolding right in front of me. I have just made contact with a full brother (not half) that was born and given up for adoption one month before my parents got married...We will be meeting next week, and he is slowly being introduced to his eight EIGHT siblings he never knew he had. How do I pitch a story that hasn't been written in full?

As a writer, I would contemplate this story as a film, with a conclusion in mind, even if it doesn't stay true to real life. Use the emotions you're feeling to influence your writing. The audience will stay invested if those emotions are left intact.

Hi Nancy, how interesting and great! What about writing it as a novel or screenplay. Or maybe create a blog where you detail your journey--how it all started, how it's going, etc. Use social media to promote the blog as well as your journey/story. You have to in some way, tell the story in order to pitch it. This could make a great tv series as well. Good luck!! I'm sure others on here will offer some great advice. This was just a suggestion : )

Congrats, awesome! I have just begun my D.N.A. search and found many cousins myself. However, a brother would blow my mind. :)

Wow, that is incredible Nancy Ballard! First off, enjoy every second of that moment! I would say to record anything and everything you can, whether journaling after or literally video recording the event. Even if it's just for posterity, gather your story notes as you're living it so the story can be told later. I can recall observing in great detail many life events with the same keen eye - 'don't forget this moment, how it played out, how I felt, what choices I made because of it' - knowing I was mentally tracking the story beats of my life for future mining. Just be present and enjoy!
