How PROPS Help SOUND O.O

OMG THIS IS THE COOLEST THING I'VE EVER SEEN!

Breathing...

Okay... so... apparently prop masters make special versions of "normal" objects to make sure that it doesn't interfere with sound recording on set. Yeah... For real! Check it out!

What have you had to do to save your audio on set? What lengths have you gone to to make your props legit but adapted for your set's needs?

No, really... who else has made these adjustments for sound considerations?

Doug Nelson

I have on occasion. I always make a room tone, a wild track and often record my own prop sounds. Sometimes it tricky because you have to keep the real prop sounds from stepping on dialog. I don't like having to do ADR.

James Bennett

3d printed chainmalle is great for this :)

Matthew Cornwell

Pretending to type on a computer without hitting the keys is one of the hardest things to do. I'm surprised there aren't rubber keyboards that look normal for this purpose. Maybe there are, but on Fast 8 (which had over $150M budget) they certainly didn't have them.

Ooo, I bet it is, James Bennett! And I bet I know how you know that! LOL #NerdGasm
