This wasn’t my first time of directing background actors but this was more intentional because it’s a brand commercial and I learnt something.
Background actors are as important as the main actors on a project because when the background actors don’t get their blocking right, it could ruin the scene.
For this scene, the main actor didn’t have much to do but I spent more time direction there background because their action needed to sync with that of the main actor’s to make the scene work.
Background actors may not seem significant but they make a huge difference to the production value of a film

I view scenes as having a foreground, a middle and a background - not every one has significance all the time. To me, it's what I call 3D directing.
