Introduce Yourself : Saying hi! by Rohit Sawant

Rohit Sawant

Saying hi!

Hey, everyone! I'm Rohit. New to Stage 32. I'm a Mumbai-based writer and mainly write stories of a dark bent. My horror fiction has been published in the Shirley Jackson Award winning anthology The Twisted Book of Shadows and elsewhere. My debut short story collection, The Endless Walk, will be out later this year.

Not long ago, I was accepted into Vancouver Film School, but owing to some mismanagement by the bank handling my education loan, I was compelled to withdraw my seat; however, I’m passionate about writing and directing, as ever, and persist in my filmmaking endeavors.

Hardly anyone in my circle is enthusiastic about the field, so coming across this platform was like finding home, and I’m looking forward to learning, sharing, and giving back to the community!

Karen "Kay" Ross

Hey, Rohit Sawant! Good to meet you, and welcome to the community! Aww, thanks so much for the kind words. We're glad you're here! Oh, hey - congrats on your books and your awards! Have you checked out the Authoring Lounge yet? I think you'd enjoy meeting like-minded creatives there: https://www.stage32.com/lounge/playwriting

I’m sure you’ve already discovered the Screenwriting Lounge (https://www.stage32.com/lounge/screenwriting), but definitely reach out on the Acting Lounge (https://www.stage32.com/lounge/acting) for insight into characters, dialogue, and even when you want to generate interest in a virtual table read! There is also the Filmmaking Lounge if you wish to geek out about all things directing and production design: https://www.stage32.com/lounge/directing

Keep in mind that these lounges are like the VIP Filmmaker's Lounges at Film Festivals, so this is where you can meet the people doing the work, get advice on anything you're working on, and/or give back to those who may need advice. We're a very supportive and encouraging community! I think you'd also enjoy my intro blog post on how to engage with the Stage32 Community:

LOL Actually, as an author, I think you may appreciate the rather lengthy posts that are often in the Authoring Lounge. Karen "Kay" Ross Being an introvert, I often come across as reserved, but once I open up, my conversations likewise tend to run on the longer side, which I’m all for! And thanks for the pointer, Kay. I’ll be sure to keep an eye out for Meg’s posts!

Rohit Sawant A little like me, then Rohit. An introvert on the shell of things, with an extrovert on the inside, yearning to get out and be heard!
