Self publishing screenplays

Does anyone else self publish their screenplays to Kindle and paperback, or am I the only one?

Happiness Mpase

Hello. I don't know if others do, but I have not explored publishing my screenplays.

Mehul Desai

Takes a little tinkering on the formatting for Kindle but I like doing it, also makes the copyright ownership concrete

Some of these pieces are never going to be made (due to budget), having it out there provides some exposure

Erik A. Jacobson

Exposure? To who? I've never met anyone who combs through Kindle searching for someone's overbudget screenplays.

Mehul Desai

You're probably right but I like having it out there

Doug Nelson

Why? My pov only. If you just 'like having it out there' - you have no end game in sight. You must be content with being an amateur - just a hobbyist. To each his own.

Mehul Desai

I'm guessing this isn't popular lol

Hunter Peterson

Despite the high horse commenters, I think its a good idea to preserve a fully fleshed out idea.

Désirée Nordlund

If you want it "out there", try ScriptRevolution. It is a great place where people actually read your script.

Hunter Peterson

You might be right Gary.

Debbie Croysdale

Self publishing is not necessarily the “end game” especially with Transmedia. Further down the line if you project the story in another form eg Novel, Audio book etc or decide to pitch same script and find buyers because concept already in the ether a split deal is more favourable. (In boardroom total rights cannot be claimed or taken for granted by execs.)

Amara Franklin

I don’t see the harm and some of these comments are just mean. I don’t think there is a benefit to it exactly, but if it makes you happy to have your own printed version with a cover. Why not?
