Pitch bible / Copyright

How are you people? I'm new in this, but I will really wish to be part of this industry. I would like to know if someone can help me with this. I have a pitch bible for an animation series project, but I don't know how I should register it in the copyright office so that I can present it to executives or even share it in social media without fear. Greetings and thank you very much.

Karen "Kay" Ross

Great to meet you, Ed Corona! You can register pitch decks with the WGA, that could be a way to go. Have you spoken with a lawyer about protecting your Intellectual Property?

We also have lot of webinars about securing IP rights as well: https://www.stage32.com/webinars/Script-Protection-and-Idea-Theft

Also, I'm not sure social media is where you should share it. Have you considered having an executive review it before you share it? Check out the Pitch Deck Review: https://www.stage32.com/scriptservices/coverage/buy?id=60 Definitely reach out to our Director of Script Services, Jason Mirch, who is excellent at matching projects with potential executives (or managers, in your case): J.Mirch@stage32.com

How are things, Ed Corona? When you register your series bible with the U.S. Copyright Office (the Single Application online form), don't include pictures and images that you didn't create. It will be rejected.

If you are including pictures and images that you didn't create, I think you need to use the Standard Application online form. I would check with a worker at the U.S. Copyright Office to be sure.

Thank you so much Karen I will check these webinars and the Pitch Deck Review. Thanks for the advice Maurice, all the art on the pitch deck is my own, how could I register it in that case?. Thnks again

You're welcome, Ed Corona. I register a pilot and bible/treatment when I use the U.S. Copyright Office. I don't register pitch decks. Since you're registering a pitch deck (with your own art), maybe talk with a worker at the U.S. Copyright Office to be sure.

Ed Corona

Thank you again Maurice Vaughan and how do you register a pitch bible and a pilot in the US Copyright office? I want to register a pitch bible too and the pilot will be a next step so It would be a very valuable information .

You're welcome, Ed Corona. You might want to check out these websites since you're in Mexico:

https://copyrightindex.com/get-copyright-registration-Mexico/

https://copyrightindex.com/

https://www.trade.gov/country-commercial-guides/mexico-protecting-intell...

http://www.indautor.gob.mx/

The U.S. Copyright Office is https://www.copyright.gov/, but I think you should check out the copyright in your country first. I'm not sure if you would register with Mexico or the U.S. Copyright Office.

Ed Corona

Hello again Maurice I appreciate it, I would like to register my pitch bible and pilot in the U.S. Office. Can you tell me what type of registration should I do? Group of unpublished works? How did you register your works? Under what type of work? thanks as always and sorry for so many questions.

Maurice Vaughan

Group Registration for Unpublished Works, Ed Corona.

A teleplay is considered "Work of the Performing Arts" (the same for screenplays, treatments, etc.).

Hi Ed, copyright all of your written stories or treatments. The best protection to have.
