Distribution : Building a social media audience by Jack Stockley

I'm hoping to increase the audience for my short film PURGATORY. I've posted a couple of times about it on Stage32 before and I am pushing in many other ways to try and reach a wider audience. We recently qualified to submit to BIFA (British Independent Film Awards) and due to the subject matter of the film, I am in talks with local and national news broadcasters to run a story on the film, the message, the webshop and the fund-raising. 

I am asking if anyone has hints, tips, websites, network connections, or anything that can help us reach more people and increase our chances of being a bigger story and help us to raise more money. ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED. I really believe social media is the best tool to help us reach our goals.
