Introduce Yourself : Screenwriter by Cameron Reilly

Cameron Reilly

Screenwriter

Hello everyone! I'm brand new here! I've been a ghostwriter for the last two years, working on fiction/nonfiction books, scripts, and articles. But I've been writing my own stuff for the last 10 years. I finally want to get my stuff out there, meet some amazing people in this industry, and work on up-and-coming projects. And, hopefully, within the next year, sell something I've written - or, better yet, see it translated to the screen. It's nice to meet everyone!

Maurice Vaughan

Nice to meet you, Cameron. Welcome.

Cameron Reilly

Thank you, Maurice!

Maurice Vaughan

You're welcome. What projects are you working on?

Mary Lewis McRae

Welcome Cameron

Cameron Reilly

Maurice, I currently have a feature-length script written that I would like to sell or see get made. And I'm working on another feature-length script at the moment. I'm also going to be posting some smaller scripts in the near future.

Cameron Reilly

Thank you, Mary!

Scott Adlai Stevenson

Good luck with your work

Cameron Reilly

I need all the luck I can get, Scott! I wish the same for you as well!

Cameron Reilly

How about you, Maurice? What projects are you currently working on?

Maurice Vaughan

I recently finished a Horror/Comedy feature script ("Escape the House"), Cameron. I'm currently pitching it. I'm rewriting a Crime/Comedy feature script.

James Welday

Welcome, Cameron. Happy to have you here!

Cherelynn Baker

Cameron Reilly

Cameron Reilly

Thank you too, Cherelynn! I feel very welcomed! I'm happy to be a part of this community.

Cameron Reilly

Maurice, I see that you also reviewed my logline. Thank you!

Maurice Vaughan

You're welcome, Cameron.

Cameron Reilly

Thank you, Colette! It's a difficult goal, but I've got the chutzpah to get it done!

Karen "Kay" Ross

Good to meet you, Cameron Reilly, and welcome to the community! First off, I love your energy! If I knew nothing else about you, I can tell by your responsiveness to this thread that you'd be a great person to work with.

Second, have you put together a pitch for any of your projects yet? Feel free to use Stage 32's free Pitching Guidebook as a reference, whether it's for a 2-page pitch document, a 5-minute verbal pitch, or a 15-30 page pitch deck: https://www.stage32.com/sites/stage32.com/themes/two/pdfs/happy-writers/...

Erik Meyers

Welcome. Great to meet you! Sounds like a busy, but fun time!

Mary Lewis McRae

Welcome and great to meet you

Cameron Reilly

Thank you so much, Karen! I will absolutely work towards putting a pitch together! I'm trying to get one of my scripts sold while simultaneously finishing up another. I'm so happy to be a part of this community! I'll email Jason as well, as I'm certain that I can gain something from the communication!

Cameron Reilly

Thank you, Erik! Yes, it's been a busy time for me, but as long as I'm writing, I'm having the time of my life!

Cameron Reilly

Thank you, Mary! It's great to meet you too!

Christiane Lange

My partner and I do some ghost writing too, and I actually think it is pretty good preparation for writing scripts. Welcome!

Cameron Reilly

Thank you, Woodrow!

Cameron Reilly

Christiane: That's awesome! I think it's been really helpful as well. Even the nonfiction ghostwriting has helped in terms of conducting research and organizing ideas. I'm a strong believer that a story should not only develop characters but also ideas - just like a nonfiction book on philosophy. So the ghostwriting has helped tremendously in this area!

Christiane Lange

Cameron Reilly Plus, it forces you to be very aware of writing in someone else's voice, i.e. dialogue.
