I am an African lady filmmaker with a pitch-ready documentary concept. I am looking to partner with a Canadian producer in order to pitch it to a special Canadian fund for African documentaries due on 1 December. Inbox me, ask away or visit my profile for more about me.
Hello Nyembezi, welcome to Stage 32 and congratulations on your documentary concept. Have you tried posting this in the JOBS board to hire on a producer?
Congrats on completing the pitch! May I ask - why must it be a Canadian producer? There are lots of companies all over the world that work with co-productions.
Also, have you tried pitching it to any of Stage 32's executives? https://www.stage32.com/scriptservices/pitch-sessions Definitely reach out to our Director of Script Services, Jason Mirch, who is excellent at matching projects with potential executives (or managers, in your case): J.Mirch@stage32.com
Hi Karen "Kay" Ross. This particular documentary fund for African documentaries is Canadian and it is a prerequisite to collaborate with a Canadian. I will definitely consider pitching to a Stage 32 exec but for my fiction work rather than this project. Thank you.
Cherelynn Baker Thank you for the suggestion. I'm on it. Just a quick question: does posting on the Jobs board not mean the project has funds secured already or can I post there even at pitch phase?
Gotcha. Well, consider pitching to Phil Claroni with Story House Productions. He was the showrunner on the first series I was ever staffed on and his company has a location in Canada (with offices in the US and Europe as well). It could be an option, especially since he specializes in non-fiction and he still has spots left: https://www.stage32.com/happy-writers/pitch-sessions/Pitch-Phil-Claroni-...
This! This is what Stage32 is all about! The connections and support! Great share and idea Karen "Kay" Ross - thanks for putting that out there for Nyembezi!
