Read and 30-minute phone call with Thomas Pemberton

This past October I signed up for a read and 30-minute phone call of my script NO BLOOD BETWEEN US with Tom Pemberton, Development Executive at Mind’s Eye Entertainment. After I worked out my technical issues for the call (he was very patient) Mr. Pemberton shared his thoughts on how to elevate the script and get it ready for the market. I found this more useful than regular coverage because of the back and forth between reader and writer in real time. I made notes as he shared his thoughts and set them aside to be reviewed when I go back into the script for a rewrite.

Thank you, Mr. Pemberton, for taking the time to help writers get a leg up. And, thanks to Stage 32 for providing such a useful service.

Best,

Dana Jackson

Hi, Kyler,

Research! Getting notes from someone I could do research on was a huge plus for me. I researched Mr. Pemberton and watched a couple of films Mind's Eye produced before I signed up. I've always felt something was lacking in the coverage I've received. By that I mean not knowing who the reader is and what makes them the best person to give my script to. Almost any good reader can comment on craft, but there are subtle differences between genres. That's where zeroing in on some person or company helped me.

Prepare! I quickly learned how unprepared I was to talk about my script. Even though this wasn't a pitch session I should have approached it that way. I'll be better prepared next time.
