Screenwriting : Favorite Villains? by Matthew James Sheridan

Matthew James Sheridan

Favorite Villains?

Who are some of your favorite villains that got away at the end of the film? --like Hannibal Lecter, from Silence of the Lambs for example.

Kevin Goodyear

Anton Chigurh, from No Country for Old Men, and in a wild and twisted way Tyler Durden, from Fight Club.

Craig D Griffiths

Hans Gruber

E Langley

Gruber fell 20 floors from the Nakatomi building. I don't think he made it. (Recently revisited DIE HARD.)

Angela Cristantello

Oooooooh, what Kevin said. We just rewatched No Country over the weekend (it's my favorite movie of all time) and Anton Chigurh all DAY.

And on a wildly different note: Janet in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.

Craig D Griffiths

Oh, the got away bit I missed.

Matthew Kent

Corbin Bernsen in The Dentist and Jim Seidow in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre! Though can’t remember if the dentist got away or has resurrected himself in me!!!

Rebecca James

The Thomas Crowne Affair (don’t know the villains name). Loved it!

Pete Whiting

Bill Murray in Quick Change

Ingrid Wren

This is tricky! I'd have to say the Daleks in Dr. Who, the Borg Queen in Star Trek or the Cylons in Battlestar Galactica. They all keep coming back!

Don Dobrez Jr

Annelies took mine, but Ill alter it to say that it was Keyser Soze who got away

Debbie Croysdale

@Ingrid Yeah the Daleks just keep coming back even long after the original Doctor Wiiliam Hartnell in the 60's. @Rebecca I remember the climax of The Thomas Crown affair, the villain was multi faceted and a lot of people batted for him rather than his chess game opponent who kinda had it coming.

Seth Paradox

Emmanuel T Zorg (The Fifth Element)/Dracula (Bram Stoker's Dracula)/Norman Stansfield (Léon: The Professional) ie: Gary Oldman; Angel Eyes (The Good, the Bad, the Ugly); Scar (The Lion King, 1994); Reverend Harry Powell (The Night of the Hunter)

Angela Cristantello

I'll also say one of my LEAST favorite villains who got away with it: Curly in Oklahoma!

But truly.
