Recommendations to Make The Most of Stage 32

Hey guys! So, I have been on/off Stage 32 for years (pretty sure since college) and I am trying to get more involved.

I went full freelance last year and have been stressed out with trying to stay afloat and moving forward in my career. Don’t get me wrong, I am grateful for the work that I did do. I worked on my first TV project as a script supervisor and was scripty on 4 features. Plus, I worked on my first commercial. However, I want to do more especially when it comes to writing.

I have been updating my profile and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on how to make the most of it?

James Welday

Hi Hailey, quite the background so far! I'd recommend networking here, as much as possible. This is a friendly, experienced community, who can provide an endless amount of advice and help. I'd be happy to read or provide an extra set of eyes on anything you're writing!

Hailey Escobar

Awesome! Thanks! I do have my logline up if you want to let me know what you think.

Frank Baruch

I can second James' post. The lounge is also a great place to meet like-minded writers. It's all about being proactive.

We have a great webinar coming up this week I think you might like and help you get connected with people on here. You can check it out here and see if it's of any interest! https://www.stage32.com/webinars/How-to-Get-Staffed-in-Comedy-for-a-Streamer

Also feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions at edu@stage.com

To me stage 32 has never been a means to an end but a user friendly meeting place to show art and get feedback or collaboration. I suggest be yourself and put out your art. There is no Magiver tool or Magic bullet on any social media platform today.

Karen "Kay" Ross

Man, Hailey Escobar, have you come to the right place! First off, kudos for landing that sweet scripty gig. It's a close-knit community, so if you want to keep making money at it while you write, you certainly can.

BUT if you'd rather make money as a writer, I'd definitely suggest keeping your eye on the Jobs Tab (https://www.stage32.com/find-jobs) and take more writing gigs. The more writing samples you have, the more writing gigs you can take.

Are you hoping to write for TV or film? Is there a particular genre you're drawn to? Are you submitting to any of the fellowships this year?

Also, if you can swing it, I would HIGHLY recommend joining the Stage 32 Writer's Room. Email Jason for your first month free: J.Mirch@stage32.com

Matthew Kent

I tend to struggle with social media myself and would like more help with my writing as well. the writers room to my knowledge is a pretty friendly place to meet new writers. I strongly recommend it

I also sent you a network request as I want to learn from more experienced writers in the industry.

Maurice Vaughan

Hi, Hailey Escobar. You can check out the free blogs, you can interact with people to build relationships, you can exchange scripts for feedback, you can watch webinars, you can join the Writers' Room, and you can do other things to make the most of Stage 32.
