Are any of you actors interested in meeting up to do readings of film scripts or plays? Just to keep in practice. I'd really like to find a group and do this once a week or bi-weekly. What do you think?
HI Woodrow, thank you so much for your response. You are the first to answer! I will definitely inform you when it looks like there's a group, but until then wonder if you would also be interested in working on 2-person scenes? I have a stockpile of them from a class I took. Or if you have something you want to work on....?
That's a fantastic idea! Reader's theatre is a such a great way to keep in practice as an actor. Would you comment on this post with updates one when you host it and what scripts you're thinking to read?
Thank you so much for your responses! I think we can get started with a group this size, if we double up on roles, so on tho the next step. I'll post again soon.
I'd love to but will be at work that time as anytime after 2pm I'm available for sure. Yeah let me know what we need to do or who I gotta get the script to for reads etc. Shoot me a message here or pm me. Thanks and very excited! Take care and talk soon
just let me know what time maybe this saturday after 4 and i will be available...and how to send it to people and who is getting what etc I will do it and am ready..thanks
Thank you all for the comments...sorry I didn't see them until today. I would like to find out what kind of scripts you all all interested in doing. It might be better to use publicly accessible scripts for the first read, and once we meet we can exchange emails to communicate further. Scriptslugs is a great resource. What are your suggestions? Let's set this up for March 27th to give everyone a chance to answer. Are you all available that day? Around 2 pm east coast time?
Another resource for scripts is https://scriptpdf.com/ Frank I can''t start the reads that late - I'm in Germany; so 4pm for you is 11 pm for me. Is there any way for you to meet earlier?
Thank you Chaunsy! I'll start to choose scripts once I find out where everyone's interests converge. In the meantime I really appreciate the input! I regularly read scripts from the scriptpdf site, and have found many I would love to share with the group.
I've deliberated endlessly on different scripts to try for the first read and have decided finally on the Suits pilot episode. http://jordanl3.sg-host.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/Suits_1x01_-_Pilo.... I'm assuming you are all familiar with the show. The main characters for this episode are: Mike, Trevor, Jenny, Grammy, Harvey, Louis, Katherine, Gerald, Donna, Rachel, Phillip. Please choose which character(s) you are interested in playing. I will set up a zoom meeting for 1pm East Coast time this Sunday March 27th and post the info here on Saturday. Let's get this started!
We just wrapped up the first session, and I want to thank Chaunsy, Sandeep and Stephen for participating - you were all wonderful to work with! It was great fun and a great way to exercise our craft. And the start of a great group! The next session is planned for April 24th at 1pm. Please feel free to post your suggestions!
Zoelle RoseChaunsy Ryan White @StephenFolker, THANK YOU! This was the perfect start of the group, and I have to say Zoelle picked a great script with plenty of lessons. People who missed out, next one in a month.
Really enjoyed getting back into table reads again . Want to thank Zoelle for the idea , and the invitation. And Sandeep, and Stephen also for great co-readers. Hope this is a start of many more learning experiences!
Zoelle Rose , you should choose a similar one, your experience showed. Using Works In Progress is very good for writers as was reading a sold script. I was very surprised at the totally.different nature of insights. At the same time, @StephenFolker has a full script too.
Hi all! Time to prepare for the next read, April 24th at 1pm East coast time. The script will be the pilot episode of Scandal. Here is the link: https://script-pdf.s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/scandal-pilot-3-tv-script-... Please let me know what character(s) you would like to play! Looking forward to another great read with you!
Great session today Zoelle, once again a great script choice. Actually, found Shonda Rhimes discusses this pilot in her Master Class. Act One module is free as an online sample on Masterclass.com
Thank you so much for your participation in the group read this past Sunday. It was great! You are both so good to work with. And thank you for thinking of ways to grow the group :-) In the meantime, the next script will be The Bucket List, available here https://www.dailyscript.com/scripts/The_Bucket_List_4-16-05.pdf The date will be May 8 at 1 pm. I'll post again next week here and in the lounge. See you!
Thank you all so much for your participation in the table read this past Sunday. This is great practice as actors and I appreciate all your time and energy. It was so much fun to read this wonderful script! The next will be on May 22 at 1PM EDT. I'll post details next week.
Hello all! We will be reading the Timeless pilot next Sunday May 22 at 1 PM EDT. Here is the link to the script: http://www.zen134237.zen.co.uk/Timeless_1x01_-_Pilot.pdf. Please let me know which role(s) you are interested in playing! Looking forward to seeing you next Sunday.....

right on bro, you are welcome and thanks! i am a card carrying nerd who takes only 7 minutes to pull up a pdf on screen! happy to hear Wyatt read by you in action!
Great reading room again @Zoelle, Thank you ! I enjoyed the discussion on the script and zeitgeist just as much. I wonder when they do procedurals they don't give them all the acts or even scenes all at once.
Thank you for a great read and discussion! It's true, mostly they just get their own parts; probably for efficiency of production and also privacy. Open to discussion! Post your ideas....
Time for the next read! This Sunday June 19 at 1pm EDT, the script on the table will be A few Good Men, available here https://www.scriptslug.com/ass...
It's pretty long, maybe we'll do it in two sessions, let's see how it goes. Looking forward to seeing you all there! Best, Zoelle
Thanks so much for a great read tonight! This is one of the greatest scripts with really challenging monologues and dialogues, wonderful humor and characters...great for practicing our skills. We're halfway through, to be continued in two weeks: same time same channel....
Hi all, we will finish reading A Few Good Men this Sunday July 3rd at 1pm EDT....I'll post the zoom link Saturday....looking forward to seeing you all there!
Huge apology to those of you who had wanted to participate in the read this Sunday. I had an extended day at work and lost track of time and day and everything, including this. It's been a very hectic week and I'm a bit stressed. Not an excuse but nevertheless, it is the reason. I am thinking to schedule this second half of A Few Good Men next Sunday and hope you will all forgive me and let's do this famous court scene....
Hi Zoelle - I absolutely love this idea!! Stage 32 has an option where you can create a Group >> https://www.stage32.com/meetups >> It's super easy to start one and it might be easier to keep track of everyone who is interested in participating. Let me know if you need help!
Once again, thanks Zoelle Rose for patiently hosting the Zoom Room reading and discussion the script / the zeitgeist back then. Once you figure with Shellie / S 32 if those meetup groups are ok for Zoom please let us know. Thanks for making a test link Chaunsy, let's see what she decides.
Hiii everyone hope you are all well today, it's really great to join a network of people who love acting I'm looking forward to getting to know you all more and do some great work together
